Song for ya 10/16

It took 30 seconds for me to fall in love with this song. I want to pad out posts between song shares so it doesn’t become a cop out. But damn this is too good. I’m a sucker for 60s-70s counterculture. People were over injustices, protesting a war, and saying no to the nuclear family. The Rolling Thunder movie really just struck a chord with me. All these amazing folk artist and poets traveling to tiny towns around the US and shocking people from 4 towns over. Some love it, some hate it. It was undoubtedly the boldest thing in singer-songwriter music for the time. Hard Rain by Bob Dylan is by far my favorite era of Dylan. This was honestly his last time really performing with power. As….interesting as Dylan is from post Rolling Thunder til’ now, it doesn’t hold the punch this does.

This track with Joan Baez is a perfect example of how tight and punchy the entire ensemble was. (Listen closely and you can hear a heckler saying “What a lovely couple! As both of them stand on stage) I’m gonna include another favorite from this era. (Heard on the Hard Rain album). This album is for people in your life that don’t get Dylan. I think the fact he has the power to do something like this and kept it in this small point in time makes the rest of his discography feel even more intentional. Please give the Hard Rain LP a listen. It’s only a few tracks, but are some of the best renditions of his classic tunes. Cheers.
